Every hour you volunteer helps preserve the stories, memories, and heritage of those who came before us.

Your volunteer time is more than a contribution—it is a vital part of sustaining and restoring our historic cemeteries. We carefully track all volunteer hours because they serve as matching contributions when applying for grants. Many funding programs require organizations to demonstrate community support through a combination of financial contributions, donations, and volunteer service.

By recording your hours, you help strengthen our grant applications and increase our ability to secure funding for preservation, restoration, research, education, and ongoing maintenance projects.

Many employers offer volunteer grant or donation-matching programs that provide financial support to charitable organizations based on employee volunteer hours. If your employer participates in such a program, we encourage you to designate the Friends of Alexandria Historic District as the recipient. These additional contributions help us expand preservation efforts and secure funding for future projects.  We are registered through Benevity, and happy to register for any additional ones needed.

If you are volunteering to fulfill school, college, or community service requirements, please include those details in the Additional Information section. We are happy to provide verification letters or documentation to confirm your volunteer service hours.
