Stories Beneath the Stones

Beneath the quiet earth of the Eastview, Seay Chapel, and Seay Chapel Cemetery rest generations of Alexandria’s early settlers —all part of the living fabric of Alexandria’s past. This space is more than a burial ground; it is a place of memory, resilience, and community. Through these stories, we honor their lives, preserve their legacies, and bring long-overdue recognition to those whose voices were too often silenced. Each post below offers a glimpse into the lives that shaped, struggled, and persevered here.

We would love to hear the stories of your family, and they can be submitted through several ways:

Or if you are ready, you can share it with us below, and we thank you for sharing your family’s story with us.  If you have photos of family memorabilia you’d also like to share, simply check the box and we’ll reach out to you to talk about them.

By gathering these stories for Stories Beneath the Stones, we hope to honor and preserve the memories of those who came before us. Every memory, photo, and detail helps us better understand and celebrate the lives that were part of the Seay Chapel, its adjoining Cemetery, or the Eastview Cemetery and ensures they are not forgotten.

If not, no problem — we will anonymize the names of the living. If it’s a mixed choice, simply choose other and we will discuss with you. Prior to sharing anything publicly, we will share a copy of the proposed story with you.
